Happy Birthday to...WHO?
Friday was Emma's sixth birthday. Since it was also a school day I sent her to school with (store bought-peanut free) treats for her class. While she was gone Riley and I decorated the house and made cupcakes for her. The boys got her a small gift each and we all waited for the bus to bring her back home for the celebration.
Upon Emma's return she saw the decorations ran inside and enjoyed her cupcakes and gifts. The boys sang to her while having a cupcake of their own. They were very happy to celebrate the day with her. Then the doorbell started ringing. "Can Emma come outside?" And she was gone. Just like that. The wrapping paper had barely hit the floor and she was already out the door. She was out running the neighborhood until dark. My heart was broken. This was my day too. I was celebrating the day I became a mother for the first time. I didn't expect balloons or cake just for me, just some one on one time with the birthday girl. I am so happy that we now live in a neighborhood where my kids have more friends than they can count, but letting them go is so bittersweet.
So Happy Birthday Baby Girl. I love you and the person you are growing into. You are a beautiful young girl with a huge heart, and I am so proud to be your mom!
